If therapy were a board game, I’d be the co-player who helps you read the rulebook, strategize your next move, and remind you it’s okay to reshuffle the deck. You’re still the one rolling the dice and choosing your path—but I’m here to help you navigate setbacks, build new skills, and make sense of the game board when it feels like the pieces just don’t fit. Whether you’re stuck in analysis paralysis, facing an unexpected plot twist, or figuring out how to win with the hand you’ve been dealt—I’m here for the journey.
I’m Jonathan Ryan (he/him), a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with kids, tweens, teens, and adults navigating the kinds of quests that don’t always come with a walkthrough. Whether you’re working on emotional regulation, managing a neurodivergent brain, unpacking identity questions, or just trying to figure out your next chapter—I’m in your corner. And yes, we can absolutely use D&D metaphors or Pokémon analogies to get there.
I specialize in working with men’s issues, gender identity exploration, “failure to launch” struggles, sexual health, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), OCD, trauma, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and other mood-related challenges. Basically, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, emotionally stuck, or just like things don’t quite add up—I want to help you untangle that.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, from kids to adults, as well as families and caregivers. I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, BIPOC individuals, adoptees, and people who proudly identify as nerds, geeks, or the kind of overthinkers who feel like their brains never log off. I’m also passionate about supporting parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children, helping to bridge understanding and strengthen connection in ways that feel validating and effective for everyone involved.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and tailored to each person I work with. I integrate geek therapy with evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), existential therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment-based therapy, and play therapy. Whether you’re building executive functioning skills, practicing emotional regulation, challenging harmful beliefs, or exploring your values and sense of purpose, our work together is designed to meet you where you are—and move at a pace that feels doable.
I want therapy to be a space where you’re not just surviving but building something meaningful. My hope is that you walk away with more than coping skills (though we’ll build plenty of those, too). I want you to feel more confident in your identity, more connected to your values, and better equipped to handle the stressors life throws your way. We’ll work on creating structure, building insight, and developing a sense of direction—while also making room for humor, metaphors, and even a little play along the way.
You can expect our sessions to be supportive and steady, but also real. I’m not here to sugarcoat things, but I also won’t rush you. I believe deeply in fostering a therapeutic space where clients feel safe enough to be fully themselves—awkward pauses, rambling thoughts, geeky references, and all. You’re allowed to show up however you are.
I understand that therapy can be intimidating—especially if you’ve had to mask your needs, fight to be understood, or carry the weight of being “the strong one.” You don’t have to do that here. Whether you’re navigating identity development, burnout, intrusive thoughts, emotional dysregulation, or the very real struggles of living in a world that wasn’t designed for your brain, body, or values—I’m here to help you figure out your next move.
As I like to say: you’re the writer and director of your own show—but life is the producer. We have to learn how to manage what life throws at us. Therapy can help you build the insight, boundaries, flexibility, and confidence to do just that—and I’d be honored to walk that path with you.
